Balam Ajpu is a group of Guatemalan musicians on a mission to breathe life into a pre-Columbian language and heritage through thoroughly modern genres like raggea, kumbia and hip-hop.
Balam Ajpu means Jaguar Warrior. They mix Mayan languages with Spanish, also blending a hip-hop beat with marimba, pre-hispanic instruments and latin rythms, that are impossible not to dance.
BarrioCandela is a project that started in Barcelona in 2006 formed by Dr. Nativo aka Sativo with musicians from all over Latin America. The band had really good impact in the street music scene.
On the summer of 2015 they released their debut album as Balam Ajpu, „Tribute to the 20 Nawuales" and are on tour for the autumn season in Europe. A live show you can't miss!
