Little Brown Couch präsentiert Town of Saints und The Ghost and the Machine

In diesen Jahr durften wir schon 2 Melodica Festival besuchen, einmal in Köln und einmal in Berlin. Dabei kamen wir in den Genuss Town of Saints, einmal in Zweier-Combi und einmal mit Band live zu sehen und hören. Da wir so begeistert waren, versuchten wir alles um einen Graz Termin noch heurer möglich zu machen, und hier ist er! Musik so wie sie sein sollte, authentisch, schön, powervoll! Unterstützt werden sie von den sehr hörenswerten & sehenswerten The Ghost And The Machine aus Wien, die eigentlich an dem Tag mit uns eine Acoustic Session in Graz machen wollten und sich dann freundlicherweiße bereit erklärt haben, gleich einen Auftritt am Abend anzuhängen! Das wird schön!

The Dutch/Finnish Town of Saints started as a busking act in 2010, when Harmen Ridderbos (lead vocal/guitar) and Heta Salkolahti (violin/vocals) met each other in the mountains of Austria. The following five years the duo toured extensively throughout Europe. Meanwhile transforming from an upbeat indie-folk act to a five-headed groove-machine.

Town of Saints’ new album ‘No Place Like This’ (Snowstar Records / Caroline International) mixes tropical and darker influences. It is rich in being minimalistic as well as grand orchestral arrangements, along the lines of Arcade Fire, Local Natives and Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’. It succeeds the debut album ‘Something To Fight With’ (2013), which was acclaimed in the Netherlands as well as outside their home country. The success of the album resulted in performing over 130 live shows (amongst which Dauwpop, Indian Summer Festival, Ramasuri Rock and Lost in Music), throughout 11 European countries, in 2014 alone. Within half a year after the release of their debut album, Town of Saints was proclaimed as one of the most promising Dutch acts by national radio and television.

Having been joined by Jukka Kiviniemi (bass), Berend Rombouts (guitar) and Jesse Bosman (drums), the five will present their new album this year in various clubs and festivals throughout Europe.

Die Wiener Band THE GHOST AND THE MACHINE spielt raue und ehrliches Songs – intim und ungezähmt. Die metallischen Obertöne der Resonatorgitarre treffen auf die hölzernen Untiefen des Kontrabasses, vergessene Geister werden herauf beschwört, Unverhofftes wird offenbart – Und es rockt.
Gestartet 2013 von Gitarrist und Sänger/Songwriter Andi Lechner, der mit seinen Sechssaitern of choice – Resonator Gitarren – von Anfang an einen unverkennbaren Sound pflegte, agieren THE GHOST AND THE MACHINE mittlerweile als Trio. Heidi Fial (Kontrabass, Perkussion, Stimme) stieg 2014 ein, 2016 folgten die Aufnahmen für das Debüt-Album in Dresden in den Helicopter Studios mit Schlagzeuger Matthias Macht, welches Ende Mai unter dem Wiener-Label LILIRecords veröffentlicht wurde.
